PAKT, a true super group of master musicians merging & colliding new music in the realms of progressive rock, electric jazz, experimental, ambient, psychedelic and beyond, is an experience as much as a musical project—
an IMAX film for the ears!
In 2024 PAKT had the opportunity to do a handful of short tours in the US. Time was limited because everyone is involved in other projects, especially Kenny and Alex. This was compounded by the fact that many promoters are reluctant to book anything that has any hint of the word improvisation. Despite all of this we were able to do a run on the West Coast in January, starting in Seattle, down through California, and ending in Arizona. In the late Summer we did another couple of brief runs, covering Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina, and upstate New York.
During the Summer tour we were able to get recordings of several gigs, which are included on this recording. These venues include Sellersville Theatre in Sellersville, PA, ProgStock in Rutherford NJ, and The Grey Eagle in Asheville NC. The latter just a couple of weeks before the devastating hurricane damage. On the ProgStock recording Adam Holzman sits in on keyboards. Numerous fans kindly helped to finance these short runs by purchasing this recording in advance.
The band improvises throughout, though sometimes a piece might be started by a bass line that may have been used in the past. But even then, the piece will progress in a different direction every time, so every gig is unique. The band is in a constant state of exploration, trying to create different sonic landscapes and emotions, and to keep turning corners. No one ever knows what is coming next.
